Why I homeschool

I recently wrote a paper on "Why I homeschool".  I don't know how to attach a document so I will post my FB page and it is in the notes.  Let me know what you think.  https://www.facebook.com/hammer.gyrl

WOW!!! It's been awhile

Wow, it has been a very long time since I posted on here.  So I thought I would give a little update.  We have been busy busy busy.  Homeschooling has been going well.  My older children have started their second trimester in public school and doing well also.  We are LOVING our curriculum this year, and even though it was pricey it is soooooo worth it.  Thanksgiving was fun and filling :)  Looking forward to CHRISTmas and all the joy it brings.

Right now I'm reading a book about Christmas Traditions by Ace Collins.  Love it! Highly recommend it!

Natalie is having fun with school...even though she tries to get out of doing it daily! Haha!  She is doing so well in Spelling that now I just give her a pretest, if she passes with missing less than 2 we move on to the next chapter.  Since I started doing this we have not done a spelling lesson at all.  She has ACED every pretest!  Math on the other hand is another thing all together.  This seems to be her most challenging subject.  Yet, her test scores are still high.  :)  It just takes her a little bit to get the hang of the subject.

Wishing you all the best and a Merry Christmas!

Field Trip Living Planet Aquarium

So Friday we went to Living Planet Aquarium for a field trip.  We took along with us a neighbor friend who goes to public school.  (So of course Natalie gets socialization).  Anyway, we had a blast.  I even discovered some of God's creatures that I never knew about.  It was neat to do this field trip since Natalie has been learning in her bible subject about God's creation!  I love it!  Well here are some pics...Please enjoy!

Pics from 1st day of school

Here are some pics of our first day doing school this year.  She is such a doll!!!

long time since last post

Ok, so it's been a long time since my last post.  Sadly we had some internet issues and schooling has been somewhat difficult....since our lessons our online.  Two weeks later we are back on track and having a blast!  We really love our curriculum!  Pictures to come of a recent field trip.  Hope all is going well for you all.

TOMORROW!

YAY!  Tomorrow is the big day!  Please pray for me.  The older kids head off to their schools and Natalie start again with trying to homeschool.  For those of you that don't know, last year we failed miserably.  So we are trying again!  Anyway, I will post pics soon.  God Bless to all of you as you start your new school year.

Great vacation...came home to a great surprise!

YAY!  We had our summer family vacation finally!  We had a very good time and very relaxing!  Came home to find my homeschool curriculum sitting on my front porch.  I have been going through it and trying to get more organized.  It looks like a lot of fun.  I'm super excited to start our first day!  My older kids are pretty much ready for their first day at brick and mortar school.  School clothes shopping is done, supplies are purchased and organized...we still haven't done the registration yet...but this is the week.  So many things to look forward to.  Kody is getting his school pics done Friday at my in-law's studio.  I think next week we will start trying to get into our schedule of going to bed early and waking up early.  Kids are going to LOVE that.  HAHA!

I still haven't received any posts.  Please send me some feedback.

God Bless you all,
Rikell

a few steps closer to the first day

So I have finished watching all the orientation videos for each online distance learning class of Natalie's.  I've set up more of our schedule....like what subject we are doing on what day.  Then I finally set up an account on Engrade.  An online free grading system.  It was really easy.  Still looking forward to our delivery of supplies!

Learning the curriculum

I'm so excited!  I received my log in link to start the online portion of our curriculum. I've been watching orientation videos today.  I'm super excited to start this cool program.  Anyway, I'm still looking forward to the delivery of the rest of the curriculum.  Let me know where you are at on going through curriculum and what you have done to prepare for the first day of school.

Fresh Start

Ok, so here we are...just getting ready to start a new year of school.  It's been awhile since I home schooled, since last quarter Natalie was in a Charter school.  I'm really excited this year because we picked out a new curriculum that I think will work well for our home.  It is BJU Press Distance Learning program.  A little pricey, but I figure it is less then driving her back and forth to the charter school I had her in.  I have ordered the curriculum, and I'm still waiting for delivery.  I'm hoping to have it before school starts on the 29th.  :)

So far this month we haven't done much for getting ready, besides ordering the curriculum.  I have made a calendar to match the older kid's days off. (Since they attend a brick and mortar school).  And I have scheduled some field trips.  FuN FUN!!!

Please post a comment and let me know that status of your preparation for home school.
